An unusual case was heard before the police Magistrate (Mr E. L. Hall), at Scottsdale (Tas.), recently, when the supervisor of the totalisator at the last meeting of the Scottsdale Trotting Club was brought up on four charges of fraud, it being alleged that he altered figures in the totalisator returns. It appears from the police statement that ;i ft(. r the first race had been run a 1 shortage in the cash was discovered, and in order to make up some of the loss addditional tickets were rung on in four subsequent races, making dividends amounting to £l9 odd. The police magistrate considered that fraud had been practised and imposed a fine of £2O.
