ALLEGATIONS AGAINST COMMUNISTS. A AIINISTERIAL RED HERRING. [A. and N. Z. Glide Association] SYDEY, May 15. Hon Air Ley, Alinister for Justice in N.S.W. Cabinet, in dealing with tho growth of Communists in the Labour Movement, instanced what he termed several recent attempts to promote sectional strikes, with a view to involving other unions. It was only when they found the weight of public opinion was against them that these attempts were abandoned, but they were still being engineered in other directions. He stressed his opinion that there was a serious possibility of widespread trouble. He urged the workers to assert themselves, and not to allow 1 hemselves to be led like sheep to the slaughter by imported extremists. who could not exist, except by causing strife and disunion. OTHER SIDE OF PICTURE. GOVERNAIENT IGNORES UNEMPLOYAIENT. (Received Afay 15 at 7.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, May 15. Although Hon Air Ley comments adversely on Communism growing in the Labour Alovement, the Government, on the other hand is now being adversely criticised, both by its members inside its own party, and by outsiders, for its delay in dealing with the increasing unemployed diifficulty. The now reduced basic, wage adds to the complications. If the new Government gazettes the reduced wage, it will mean that the salaries of the public servants will bo reduced by 7/- ■weekly - The opponents of the Government particularly the Labourites, are utilizing these factors to support their contention that tho Government’s policy aims at a general reduction of wages, and a lengthening of tho hours of labour. This allegation is strenuously denied by the members of the Cabinet, who point out that the Government has nothing whatever to do with the reduction of wages, which, they say, is the function of the courts-
