The Earl of Dounaghniore has ordered a suspension of all lodge meetings throughout the Irish Free State, owing to some attacks on Masonic Halls and Freemasons there. THE ULSTER STRIFE. LONDON, May 13. In Ulster five armed men held up a light engine, and forced a pay clerk, who was riding on the footplate, to hand over £l,OOO sterling, wages for the locomotive staff. The men then escaped. A dastardly outrage, attributed to Sinn Feiners, occurred at Belfast, resulting in the death of a tram conductor named Mansfield- His death resuded from an attache ease left behind rn the tram as while taking it to the lost propertv office, an infernal machine within the ease exploded, lolling Mansfield, and wounding three others. The damage is estimated at £20,(100. COLLINS’S ASSURANCE TO PROTESTANTS. (Received May 14, o.J p.m.) LONDON, May 13. A deputation from the Protestant. Synod of Ireland waited on Mr Michael Collins. They asked if the Irish Provisional Government desired to retain the Protestants of Southern Island, or wanted them to go. Mr Collins assured lhe deputation that the Government did not wish them to go. The Government would protect all. its citizens, and would ensure to all civil and religious liberty. He said that, either spoliation or confiscation would not be tolerated.
