RAILWAY METHODS.

MASSEY’S PROMISE. FAR-REACHING IMPROVEMENTS. (Per Press Association.! WELLINGTON, May 5. Mr Massey states that the question of improvement in railway methods is receiving constant attention. Mr Guthrie, Acting Minister of Railways, was regularly discussing the different aspects with Mr McVilly. Mr Massey said that he felt sure a material improvement could be secured by putting the proposals into effect, the details of which are being carefully weighed. He is not yet in a position to announce the form they would take, but he wanted to make it quite clear there was no hitch, as had been stated in the press. Taking into consideration the far-reaching nature of the changes, and the numerous important phases that have to be carefully considered, he anticipated it would be possible to arrive at a definite decision in the very near future.
