RUSSIA’S RECOVERY.
W.E.A. PROFESSOR’S AUGURIES. SYDNEY, May 3. Professor Meredith Atkinson has returned from a visit to Russia. Tie thinks that it will be ton years before the economic recovery of Russia is feasible. The Soviet Government is insufficient, and is hampered by famine relief work. Famine and disease arc spread over thousands of square miles of country. He sleighed along roads lined with corpses in the evening, and in the morning he had seen where the bodies had been stolen for food. He estimated that probably 5,000,000 Russians will die this summer.
