WEST COAST RUGBY UNION. | At the weekly meeting of the West I Coast Rugby Union Executive last night there were present Captain Cox I (chair), Messrs Heffcruan, Wilson, Guy, Armstrong, Nelson, Rothwell, Fairbairn, Adams, Beaumont, Dunford, O’Don no u Heaphy, Giesking and Jones (Secretary). It was decided to reinstate as Rugby players McLennan and Straight of the Ikamatua Club, in the Tnangahua district, and also to reclassify as a junior Inglis of the Star Club. A protest was received from the Star Club re their Fourth Grade match with Cobden, as to two players being over age, and it was decided to order the match to be replayed. It was decided to grant the application of Mr Allison, Headmaster, to enter a team from the Greymouth District High School for the Fourth-Grade Competition. Regarding a request from two Cobden players for a transfer to the District High School team, it was decided to refer the matter to Cobden Club for a report. It was decided that at all future matches at Victoria Park, all spectators shall be kept outside the rails. I The Secretary was instructed to issue i season passes to the Press, school teachers, and referees. It was decided that a deputation consisting of Messrs Fairbairn, Adams, Wilson and the President to wait upon the Greymouth Trotting Club and endeavour to arrange for a lease, and also to discuss other matters relative to matches. In regard to the question of insuring players, it was resolved to recommend to the clubs that they should take up the. insurance question and deal with it themselves on their respective interests. For the seven-a-side tourney on June 3rd, it was reported that circulars were being sent inviting entries from the Hokitika, Inangahua, Lake Brunner sub-unions, all Greymouth Clubs, and Buller Union, and also that the prize for the seniors be the Trotting Club Challenge Shield and a trophy valued at one guinea. The motion of which Mr. Fairbairn had given notice, and which Mr Rothwell seconded, was carried to the effect that any club playing a man in a lower grade than that in which he is clasified shall forfeit the match. The following fixtures were made for Saturday next, 6inst:— | Seniors.—United v. Marist at the Park (“A” ground) at 3.15 p.m. (Mr Sherlock, referee). Juniors. —United v. Cobden, at the Park (‘‘A” ground), at 1.45 p.m.; (Mr McGrath, referee). Marist v. Stars, at the Park (“B” ground), 1.45 p.m. (Mr Adams referee). Third-Grade. — United v. Marist, at the Park (“B” ground), at 3.15 p.m., (Mr Beaumont, referee). Fourth-Grade. —Cobden v. Stars, at Cobden, at 1.45 p.m. (Mr Williams, referee.) - s TAKE EFFECT AT ONCE. WELLINGTON, May 2. At a meeting of the Rugby Union Executive held this afternoon, Mr Slade being chairman, it was decided that, the affiliated unions be officially notified that the new rules shall take effect immediately. Ten reinstatements at Auckland, ami eight at N::pier were approved. The proposed visit of a, New Zealand team to South Africa next season was abandoned. CHRISTCHURCH, May 2. The new rule concerning kicking into touch will be adopt ed by the Canterbury Rugby Union in its competitions commencing next Saturday. LEAGUE. The following players -will represent the Koh i noons against Runanga at the Recreation Ground on Saturday at 3 p.m.:—Thomas, Ryan, Leach, McRae, Rustin, Howley, Rimmer, Trowland, Brown, Lim, Hopgood.
