BILLY HUGHESSS STATESMANSHIP. (Received May 2, 9.30 p.m.) LONDON, May 1. A piquant sequal to Mr Hughes’s recent refusal to allow any German engineers to land at Melbourne for the purpose of erecting the Morwell Briquetting Company’s plant is that, on permission being subsequently granted, the Germans now’ refuse to go, declaring their wives will not let them, fearing they will get a hostile reception.
