HORTICULTURE.

COBDEN CHRYSANTHEMUM SOCIETY. The Cobden Chrysanthemum Show Committee met last evening. Rev. A. Farnell presided over a large attendance of members. Various matters in connection with the show which is to be held in Carey’s Hall, Cobden on Wednesday May 10th, were discussed. It was decided to procure a cup to be known as the Challenge Cup for the champion bloom of the Show.— To / be won three times in succession or \ five times at intervals. i A musical programme to- be presented on the night of the Show was decided upon. Schedules have been issued and entries for the classes close at 11 o’clock on the morning of the Show. The Chairman, in accordance with notice of motion moved that the Committee apply for affiliation with the Royal Horticultural Society. The motion was the subject of a large discussion, it finally being decided to defer consideration of the matter until next meeting when the Secretary would be requested to present further particulars regarding the prospects for affiliation.
