(Our Own Correspondent.) Weather permitting, to-morrow (Sun day) should be a bright one for Otira. Sports arc to be held here, and they should create some good contests. The passengers through the tunnel on Tuesday did not relish their trip on account of the intense cold and heavy ram. Many were wet through. \lr C. Williams, Inspector of Perman< n; Ways, was here on Thursday. i here has been a wash-out at the “Shingles,” near Candy’s hut, on the Otira Gorge. All the work done by the men on Thursday was again washed out last night. Air A. Hall returned from Wellington on Thursday. There were 185 people made the trip through the tunnel on Tuesday. Mr 11. Steel and Miss Blumsky returned from Kumara on Tuesday. Mr Anderson, of Green, Shields and Day, Ltd., was here on Wednesday, and upon enquiries this scribe found that Mr Anderson had been making arrangements for railing some machinery from the tunnel to the power house. Air E. Cameron, Traffic Alanager, Greymouth, paid us a visit on Thursday. The coaches made the trip over the hill on Thursday. Although it was very risky. A couple of accidents were narrowly averted. It took ; n average of two hours to make the journey.
