BLACKBALL STEAMERS.
RUMOUR OF CHANGE. There is at present a rumour circulating in shipping circles to the effect that the Blackball Coal Company’s three collier steamers, Ngatoro, Ngahere, and Ngakuta, have been purchased by the Union S.S. Co. Nothing, however, is definite. The local manager of the Blackball Company (Mr Leitch) stated last evening that he cannot disclose any information regarding the supposed sale. Mr Cunningham, branch manager of the U.S.S. Co., stated that, although there is a possibility of the rumour being correct, he is not at present in a position to make a statement on the matter.
