A glow in. the sky over *Hie fortress now flickers unceasingly at night a,s the. cremation process progresses. /When Kronstadt fell, the correspondent says 800 defenders ■were unable to escape. They were lured to surrender under a Bolshevik promise that (hey would not bo executed, hut the gates of the barracks were closed upon them 'lor ever. AVomen and children enquiring the .fate of the missing men wore driven away by the Mongolian soldiers with rille butts. They wcro not allowed in Hie town, where no rations wore available. Conditions at Kronstadt, adds Ihe .'correspondent, aro Tho sufferings of those who escaped across the ice werp awful. They staggered through deep slush and ihcir trail is dotted with dead and dying.
