PARIS DANCING CRAZE

For "some time.it has 'been the custom of many people in- Pa-ris (writes the correspondent of the "London Daily Telegraph") to whom pleasure is the first- essential, to dance at every meal taken in a restaurant. To gratify the. dancing craze .numerous restaurants have been started, not only on the boulevards and in side streets, but in apartment houses. Not all the -tenants in the flatter places take this- innovation peacefully, ami one, a doc tor, has just taken action against his landlord, claiming damages, because ihc dancing that went on at night above his head interfered with his enjoyment of his flat. In order to get. to know precisely what was going on in the dancing establishment, he sent a bailiff to sup there ami make a report,, which was submitted' to. the court before which the case for damages was '. heard. He was a (jonscicntious reporter, this bailiff. He told, the' court that a. gipsy orchestra played unceasingly, the musicians from time to time giving vent ro weird cries, while the dancers clapped their hands. The women : wore scanty garments — ailtra short skirts ami black stockings of- a very'transparent tissue. "They were more than elecollcttc,'* he told the court. As for the songs and dances — if -these contortions arc worthy of the name of dances — they arc only an excuse for flesh exhibitions." The court will announce its judgment later. It will bo awaited with trepidation by those proprietors of dancing restaurants who have doubts oa to the security of thsir tcnacies.
