[Per Press* Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, Dec 29f What appears to be a. case of suicide occured at Sumner this morning. A stranger seen on the peer disappeared, leaving- behind . him pai't of his clothing and a note in pencil stating he wa suffering from ai overwhelming vice. 1 ■ In the coa-t pocket was found a P.O. Savings Bank book, issued to John Baird, care of J. Studliolme, Hinds, and also money in notes and silver.
