AUSTRALIAN STEWARDS' STRIKE.
v (Rec. Dec. 25, 5.5 p.m.) / ' SYDNEY, December 25. The Transport Workers' Federation has recommended the stewards to return to the ships as soon as possible on the best terms that tire obtainable from the owners, being of the opinion that it would be inadvisable to prolong the strike wWle there arc innumerable unemployed in the Common- \ wealth. 1 The stewards have decided to defer > proposal for a meeting to consider a resumption of work until after the rolidays. The impression being that they are anxious to spend the Christmas ashore. j The owners are adamant in their determination not to~ negotiate with the men before there is a resumption of work.
