COMMERCIAL ADDINGTON MARKET.
On Tusday there wore only medium entries of stock at the double market at Addington Yards, ■ and a smaller attendance thau usual. The rates ruling were upon much the same basis as late markets, except for lambs, which brought high prices for the Christmas trade. . Fat Catt.le.— There were 330 head forward, and the market was rather better for big beef, but not. cow beef. Values were: Extra prime steers, up to £26 ss>; prime steers, £2.1 to £24; medium steers, £lfi to £20 10s; light and unfinished steers, £8 to £14; prime «WB, £13 15s to £10; medium cows, £10 10s to £13 10s; ordinary cows, £7 5s to £9 15s; extra prime heifers to £17 15s; prime heifers, £12 10s t02£1(5; medium heifers, £10 to £11 17s 6d; light and unfinished heifers, £S to £9 17s Gd. Dairy Cattle.— An average yarding but sales were not numerous. Values were as follows:— Fourth "culvers, to £17; good springing heifers, to £12; medium fourth calvers, to £14; medium heifers, to £9 30s. Store Cattle.— A small yarding, and very few sales, it being a flat market all through. No grown cattle were sold. Vealcrs. — A small entry met a. good demand, prices being better, viz., runners to £8, good vealers t.o £5 10s, medium vealers £2 10s to £3 ss, small calves to 40s. Fat Sheep. — Seven to eight races yarded. Sale fluctuating, but' better than last. The market held up fairly well to the finish, and on an average would be about Is to .1/6 a head better than last week. Values were as follows:— Extra prime wethers to 40s. prime wethers 34s to 38/fi, medium wethers 29/6 to 33/6, light and unfinished wethers 27/3 to 29/3, extra prime ewes to 3Ss, prime ewes 29/9 to 365, medium ewes '24/6 to 29/3, light and unfinished ewes 21/11 to 245. Fat Lambs. — 1440 head yarded, and keen competition tty butchers, and values showed an increase of about 5s per head on last week's sale and 7s on that of a fortnight ago. The average price paid per lb was 1/1. The following is th c range of values: Extra prime lambs, 41s to 435, prime lambs, 36s to 40s, medium lambs, 33s to 35/9, lighter lambs, 30s to 32/6. - Store Sheep.' — A very small entry, and low prices, and not many sales. Values were: Fair four and six-tooth wethers 23/9 to 25/11, cull four-tooth wethers 18/8, ■ good two-tooth wethers 22/7 to 255, fair two-tooth wethers I.ls to 20/7, cull two-tooth wethers 13s to 16/S, two-tooth ewes 22/1, cull four and six-tooth IS/6. Pigs. — A small entry and slack demand. Values were: Choppers, £6 to £S 12s, baconcrs, £5 Jos to £6 17s fid; average price per lb 9d. Light porkers, £4 to £4 10s; heavy porkers, £4 15s to £5; average price per lb, llrjd to 12-kl. The entry of store pigs was smaller than usual. There was a poor demand. Values were: — Medium stores £3 5s to £4; small stores, 48s to £3 3s; wcaners, 25s to 38s; sows in pig' to £7 17s.
