COMMRECIAL

AEAHURA FAT STOCK SALE,

The > special Christmas sale at the above yards was held yesterday, there being a fair attendance of buyers and an extra yarding of stock. The total of sheep and lambs yarded numbered 526 and was the largest entry at the yards for several years past, and would have constituted a record had the "Wakaiti"' arrived in time with a further shipment of 120 fat ewes and lambs from Okarito, she being deiained by bad weather. The quality of the fat sheep penned was indeed very good but the same cannot be said of. the lambs that were yarded. iWth one exception they were a poor lot, all showing evidence of the very wet spring that has been experienced along the Coast. Top price was obtained for a pen of Mr O'Neill's which sold at 29.3. Two pens of Mr Adamson's fat sheep made 34/(>. Four pens of fat sheep were passed,? not reaching vendor's reserve. Sixty-one head of prime cattle were yarded and if - -thing wore a little too big fo- ners' requirements at this time or ..c year. Light finished cattle selling much hotter. On the whole there was a distinct falling in the prices for mutton and beef which at this time of the year is generally expected, the decline being in sympathy with the fall which has recently taken place in 'Canterbury. The fololwing sales were recorded: — . Messrs G. W. Moss and Co. sold: On account Mr H. N. Adam son. 70 fat sheep at 34/6, 70 fat sheep at 32/6. Messrs W.
