Patterson was charged: — (1) That between November on the 2 ( Jth andhnoon Iwccu November 29 and December V, having the use of the Star Private Hotel, a-t the corner of Cuba and WcbD Streets, he used the same as a common gaming house: (2) That he carried on bookmaking as v side line. Evidence was given by Constables who said th'c yhad made bets with the accused under instructions from their superior officers. Accused on first charge reserved his defence, and was commUipd to tiiVs Supreme Court for trial. Bail war illowp f i. The second charge v.r.s acl.iourned sine die.
