HOKITIKA NOTES

Mrs. F. Williams, of Wcheka, South Wostland, is at present on a visit to Hokitika. Mr. R. Brown, representative of Messrs Irvine and Stevenson, whitebait canners, left by Tuesday morning's express for Dunedin. The ketch Wakaiti arrived on Tuesday f rom Okuru with a cargo of sheep from Messrs Nolan 'Bros., and sailed it 1 p.m. yesterday for Bruce Bay Avith 1 full cargo. She returns with a load °of sleepers. - Sharks are plentiful about the mouth I of the Hokitika. River, and it behoves 'lathers along the beach to be careful. I'he same might apply to Greymouth uirfers. ( Mr. B. Dowell, of the Magistrate fo Jourt staff, who has been on holilays, resumed his duties "this week. Mr. W. Breeze left yesterday for ! Bruce Bay, South Westland. Mr. J. Maunders, the Borough Ovor;eer, whose health has not been the »ost of late, is at present confined to Ins bed. His many friends will wish .11111 a speedy recovery.
