' 'THE MIDSHIPMITE. * *

Residents of Granity and Ngakawau will be pleased to hear that they are to be afforded the opportunity of viewing an entertainment which bids fair to eclipse „ any previous performance staged in either town. The Granity Convent pupils have for some time been rehearsing that popular operetta, " Midshipniite, " and will stage it at Granity on December 17, and NgaKawau on December 18. The story of the operetta is brfefly this. The "MidsMpmite" sails on a long yoyago and his friends learn with soryow that his ship has been wrecked in unknown seas. A rescue party is despatched in the hopes that there niay have been survivors, and the party reaches a coral island, where to their delight they discover the "Midshipniitc" and his shipmates have boon rescued from a watery grave by the aea fairies. All forthwith set out on the homeward journey and ate accorded a hearty welcome by their old friends. The caste is as follows — Harry Hawthorne (Midshipmite), Master Rodgcrs; Squire Hawthorne, Master Kelly; Jack Anson, Master ' McDonald; Patey Saunders, Master Hill; John Anson, Master Maher; Ada Hawthorne, Miss Warren;. Nellie Eaymond, Miss Eily McDonald; MaTy Lee. Miss Mary Peggie; Jessie Brown, Miss Kath Connor; Iris Beaton, Miss Garnet 'Cooper; Fairy Queen, Miss Mina King; Pearl, Miss Dunn; Emerald, Miss Lila Price; Deerfoot,' Master Hale; Redskin, Master Pearson; White Wolf, Master Dunn; Pathfinder, Master Hazeldine. The operetta is interspersed with numerous vocal numbers, while the dancing of Miss Moynihan's pupils is quite ■ a feature .of the programme. The prices of admission are very reasonable, and all who attend are assured an excellent entertainment.
