Holland, M.P., lias rccived the following communication rom the Minister "of Public Works:— < ' gi rj — Referring to representations nade by you as to tho position of cerain works in the Greymouth Public Works District, I have to inform you is follows: — . "Baker's Creek Bridge — An item of ;300 was provided on last year's. Appropriations under the Roads on Goldiclds Vote, which is controlled by the Klines Department. The item, hoivivcr, has not been re-voted this year, is it is considered that the mining in;crests to be "servotl by this bridge do ; lot warrant the expenditure at the present time. ' ' Fagan 's Creek Bridge. — The sum of &500 was provided for tMs bridge on the Estimates two years ago, but at :hc request of the County Council the money was diverted to the Ten-Mile Bluff Road. The question of reinstating- the vote on this year's Estimates was duly considered, but as the bridge is not required until Brighton to Seven-Mile Road is completed, it was decided to let the matter stand over this year. "Waiwcra Road, north of Barryt own< — I ]iavc examined the notes at the deputation which waited upon me when I visited the Coast recently, but cannot find any special mention of the Waiwera Road. The representations made by the deputation show that the persons concerned were principally interested in the main road from Barry- | town to Seven-Mile, for which provir si on to the extent of £10,00 has foeen made on tho current year's Estimates. 120 yds.
