(Reed November 29, 10.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, November 29. At a sale of Tacehorses, Booster was passed in at a thousand guineas.

From Monday 7iext, an improvement in the timetable between Reefton and Inangahua Junction will come into operaton. Instead of running on Wednesdays and Saturdays, as at present, there will be. a tri-weekly service. Trains will run on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The Saturday service will he the same as at present. An a I teration has also been made in the train connections at Stillwater morning and evening on Tuesdays and Thursdayfe. Passengers Kvill .therefore <be able to travel to or from the East Coast on two days a week instead ot once weekly as heretofore. Particulars of the alterations appear in this issue.

As well as the high cost of living the high cost of dying afflicts some New Zealanders, or at any rate the price or coffins. Before the Auckland Prices Tribunal on Monday a complaint was read as to the price charged for a coffin, a country resident assuring that a neighbour had been supplied at a much, cheaper rate. Another complaint was that against a doctor, who was alleged to have sent in a bill out of proportion to services rendei'ed. Yet a third was concerned with the* supply of firewood to Auckland. Profiteering was alleged as between the prices at which it was retailed the city. The tribunal will deal with the allegations in the respective cases.
