ASQUITH ANSWERS GREENWOOD.
A CAUSTIC REPORT. • LONDON, November s7. At a meeting of the Liberal Federation at Bradford, Rt. Hon. H.- H. Asquitb. made a hot retort to Sir H. Greenwood's peroration in his House of Commons speech.' The latter had said:—"Who is for Ireland and the Empire, and who is for Ireland's assassins V Mr Asquitli discribed this as being ."fho most insulting rhodomontado in history." "What is Greenwood " he asko3. A voice: —"A: coward!" Mr Asquith continued:—"Who deserted the great Gladstone's traditions 7 Ho, who now tells tho Liberals that they sympathise with asassins! This is a vile &nd malign calumny. Tho Government whoch condones reprisals should keep its own hands scrupulously clean."
