At last evening's meeting of the Greymouth Borough Council a letter' & was received from the Makura Tennis -^ "Club, stating that the committee wns;,^ i working under a disability owi.ig to - £ an overflow of water from Buccleugh^, | Street on to the Club's portion oi the ,y& Recreation Ground. ! The Club nadJ i|i expended some £1,500 in the laying. of 9| the lawns, and the Committee con-«B sidered that some steps should be tak-«| en to protect the grounds from in "^H jury. Cr. Weaver said he had in- flj spected the grounds and found thntM the matter could not be -rectified till M fine weather obtained. The Council 9 decided that tlie overflow be prevented « as soon as the weather changed. ' H On Wednesday Messrs, Jeffries and 9 Co., sold Mr. S. G. Fetguson's farm H of 297 acres at Waitahav South West- M land. The bidding opened at £12 ■ per acre and quickly rose to £16 per ■ acre,' at which figure it was passed to ■ Mr. Searle of Herepo. Subsequently 9 an offer was made by a Greymouth B buyer of £17 per acre, but as the M figure was slightly -..below Mr..
