DROWNING AT OAMARU.
UAMARU, November 25. A distressing boating fatality occurred in the harbour this afternoon, in which a young man named John Shepherd, aged 26 years, a \ returned soldier, fourth son of Mr. S. T: Shepherd, of Tyne Street, Oamaru, lost his ■life. A skin* capsized, and his mates tried to save Mm aifd held him- 'up Pot some time; but ho collapsed and •died after an hour or so. Being gassed at the war, '.he probably diMfrom shock.
