THE WEATHER
Mr. Bates -s weather report states: An intense westerly depression has accounted for north-west winds, particularly in anil • southward of Cook Strait. Considerable rain has fallen in Vvest Coast districts, but the weather has been fair to cloudy in the East Coast, where very high temperatures have ruled. . Present indications arc • -ir unsettlod, squally weather, with ruin probable generally; Hooded rivers in Westland, and snow on the higher levels in the South Island. The baror«r is unsteady, but rising soon in, the south.
