This feature of usefulnesses, and always has been, a special characteristic of all technical work at this institution. The metalwork exercises contributed by the primary school boys, who attend the manual training classes are most surprising in their variety, quality ot workmanship, and usefulness. The cabinet-making class which has a large attendance of both sexes, both 'old and young, lias contributed some splendid examples of workmanship, consisting of bedsteads, morris and ether type chairs, sidebaord, ottoman, music stools, coal cabinet, settee etc. A notable feature of this class is the already, keen and still . growing enthusiasm of the female members, who take a great delight in 'constructing articles of usefulness and beauty. Tiie productions of the "Arts "and O^fts classes are a source of great delight to all, the ladies la • particu- ! lar, and would require indefinite space to fulljr describe. The llaffia work itoms of this depurtmont are indeed something to bo proud of, amd reflect the greatest credit both upon pupils and instructor. The Dressmaking class pupils have also some very pretty and useful items on exhibition, which represent the result ot much useful wrbk coupled with thorough instruction. The educational work, both theoretical and practical, that is carried out at this institution, is such that the people of the district might well be proud of ; and has undoubtedly been instrumental • in. laying the foundation for the large y;rant being spent upon the erection j •of which both Westport- and the West course of consfci-uction upon an excellently situated six a-rea> section. Engineering students from this school; ■are- now rendering good services in many 'parts of the Dominion, and this department has long enjoyed the reputation of giving boys the best gen-eral-engineering training of any technical school in the Dominion, a. fact of which btoh.'Westport, and the WestCoast generally, might be. justly be proud.
