CHEAPER BACON
AND DEAEEREGGS
There is reason to believe that bacon will presently be cheaper. The prices paid by many curcrs for pork f.rc now reported to be fully Id per pound lower than formerly, and this is expected to be reflected in the price of bacon. A leading curer reports that pigs are to be much more plentiful in the North Island, and consequently the price of pork for turning- into baco n is «iow easier, and fresh pork should scon be correspondingly cheaper. "With regard to eggs, the case is vice versa. The>e have a tendency to rise as high in price as od per egg. This is entirely due to the advance in price of fowls wheat, and as lor.g a* fowl wheat stays high, eggs will* continue to be o»ly lor householders where economy in the table is no object.
