Henderson and that >,of Messrs. A and J. Inglis, limited, two of the biggest shipbuilders on the Clyde. Harland and Wolff aro now the biggest shipbuilding firm in the world. MORE SUBSTANTIAL ONES, (Rcc. September. 3, 5.5 p.m.) ... ROME, September 2. In addition to the castles and other properties already mentioned, the King of Italy is also going to renounce ' the buildings attached to Crown Lands in favour of institutions that arc sucouring war sufferers. The King has also resolved that his private patrimony shall be subjected to taxation, and he will also continue to dispense eight thousand sterling to the ipoor as formerly. It is anticipated that the King's initiative will have a salutary effect on the eve of the Italian Government's levy for a compulsory loan.
EXPLOSION AT ARCHANGEL
BRITISH SEAMEN KILLED

LONDON. September 2
It is now officially stated that the British monitors "Glowworm" and "Cockchafer" at Archangel were concerned in an explosion of ammunition. They. were unaware- that a lighter was loaded with ammunition, and by contact set it exploding. The seamen endeavoured to extinguish- tlie fire. Twenty one men were killed iuu\ nineteen injured.
