MILTON POST OFFICE ROBBERY.
THIEVES KNOWLEDGE OF DEPOSITS. DUNEDIN, May' 2. Regarding the Milton Post Office robbery, the police are reticent regarding the result of their investigations, but it is understood that there is, no evidence which would h?ad to a discovery of fTie thief or thieves. Much sympathy is felt for Mr McGuire in his unfortunate experience, as he has just concluded an unblemished record 'of service covering the past fprty • years. About £10 worth of silver and about £200 worth of stamps and postal notes were in the safe, but these were not touched On Wednesday ; t\vo sums, running into t considerable amount of money, rrfrc* lodged in jthe Post Office Savings Bank. It is presumed that these transactions w>re , known to the thieves, and that it. was ! for this money that the safe was fined. I
