There was a fairly good attendance at the annual meeing of the above at the club rooms on Monday evening, but very few of tho recently returned men were present. Mr W. Anderson presided. . . . The Secretary . explained to the meeting that the Borough Council had granted the Town Hall free of charge to the Association for the purpose of holding the annual ball on 25th April (Anzac Day). Mr A. Beban had approached the committee and stated that he had already promised the use of the Hall to the Dean Carew Memorial Committee for the purpose of hpldmg a bazaar during Easter week, and requested the Associatio to try and arrange for the use of some other hall —he (Mr Beban) bearing any expense that may be entailed in doing so. The Committee had appointed Mr E. Sweetman and the Secretary to see what could be done to try to overcome the difficulty. In consequence the use of the Drill Hall and the Druids' Hall had been obtained for the purpose. It was decided to use the Druids 7 and Drill Halls for the ball, and to devote half the proceeds to the Old People's Home brick scheme. The balance sheet was then read and adopted and the. election of officers for the ensuing year took place, resulting as follows: — President — Mr K. Skoglund. Vice-President — Mr E. Sweetman. ed to work strenuously during the year to mako the Assocation a strong and successful organisation. It was decided to hold a meeting of all returned soldiers at 8 p.m. on Monday, 31st March, in connection with matters of repatriation. It is : to be hoped that tho returned men will roll up in large numbers and put any grievances they may possess before the representatives of the Association on the Repatriation Bp.ard. . It was also decided to= call a meeting of ladies interested in forming a. ladies' committee in connection with the Anzac Ball, the meeting to be held at 7.,45 pm. on Monday, 31st March. This concluded tho business of ' the evening. The meeting throughout was one of the most successful that has yet ■ been held. The members all took I a very keen interest in the various disucssions and at times the proceedings \vere quite lively.
