GERMAN REPORT.

(Rec. October 4, 7.20 p.m.) LONDON, October 3

A wireless German ,- official report states: We have evacuated Armentieres and Lens without lighting. On the night pf the first of October, we occupied positions to the eastward or those vacated.-

Strong, attacks have been made against 1 our new lines northward and southward of St Quentin, but failed.

The French made local penetrations in the Champagne southward, of ffeuil, but these were reduced by counter thrusts.
