DEPARTMENTAL CENTRALISATION. MORE LOCAL CONTROL WANTED. (tor freaa Association. ) WELLINGON, September 18. The Weuingcon JMiuuauon .board today decided that in view pf there being a tendency towards centralised control by the Department, it will arrange for a Dominion conference ot Education Boards to discuss various matters in connection with the status of the boards, the uniformity of administrative methods, teachers salaries school buildings, grants, etc. A convening committee has been appointed to make the s necessary arrangements for the conference to be held in November. . The board also passed a resolution that a Committee be set up to cpnfer with the inspectors in regard to the appointment of teachers, such committees to consist of at • least three members to be elected^by the board.
