INTER-ALLIED CONFERENCE.

PEACE QUESTION

(Rec. September 18, 9.30 p.m.) LONDON, September 17. The Inter-Allied Labour Conference has opened at Westminster Hall. Delegates are present from France 1 , Belgium, Britain, America, Italy, Greece, and Serbia. Mr Stuart JJunning (the new Chairman of the Trades' Union Congress.) gave the opening address. He said that their object was to discover a common peace policy. Regarding peace, however, they were not there to advocate a peace at any price, nor as representing "defeatists." The British war aims made clear that reparation for the damage done in Northern France and Belgium, and the evacuation of those countries were first esisentials to a peace such as Labour prescribed. The Conference elected Mr Henderson' chairman.
