REIGN OF TERROR
EXECUTIONS IN PETROGRAD,
STOCKHOLM, September 16
A Stockholm paper's correspondent says terrorism in Russia has become, absolute frenzy. Thero is tho daily spectacle ,©f numerous corpses flowing down the Neva, washed towards Kronstadt, and swept ashore. Another ghastly sight, was sTX priests loped together and flung in the river. The tide later threw the bodies up on the beach. Tumbrils are heard rolling all night in the Petrogiad streets, laden with corpses from the prison courtyards. Priests and officers are the chief victims. The others are principally Bourgeois", who are shot on the least suspicion of anti-Bolshevik tendencies. Over one hundred engineers and firemen at the Putiloff works were murdered because they were displeased with the manager. Assassinations became a regular policy. Uriisky, the Minister of the Interior, who was assassinated by a student, is nicknamed the Bolshevik Marat. Murders and tho imprisoning of hostages • has greatly increased after Uritsky's death. Thus the situation is one of extreme tension and peril and has created a revolt which may break out at any time, which even the Soviets dread. — ' The city is paraded by artillery. Highly paid Red Guards serve as a body-guard and surround every Commissioner 's residence and offices.
