POSITION SAME AS 1914. ENEMY QUICKER IN RAISING MEN. ' • (Rec. June 8, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, June .?. General Maurice' in the 'TMily Chronicle," commenting on' the dfer darations of the Supreme War Council and M.- Clemenee.au' s speech, says:— ■■ "Speaking bluntly, we are now in the same situation , as. in 1914, when, our Allies were obliged to hold on until we threw in our new armies. Now, as we failed adequately to prepare for the new situation, it resulted in Russia; s collapse. We are therefore again holding on until America throws in her [ weight." 1 "The vital question in the meantime," he adds, "is whose effectives are dwindling the quickest;?" General Maurice then details the measures taken. He sums up:.'"Apparently we have again lee the enemy get a fresh staj-t by allowing him to gain .fresh drafts before ours are ready."
