4» REETTON LADIES' PATRIOTIC . v . GUILD. The ordinary monthly mooting of the Ladies' Patriotic Guild was held .in th"c Council Chambers on Wednesday evening, March., nth.' The following were present: Mesdames Hickton (chair). Mcßeath, Stallafd, Misses-Pat-terson and Morris (2). •, Correspondence was read and received, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, Lady Liverpool Com- ' mittee, Christchurch., and several soldiers'letters of thanks and apprecia- : tion of gift parcels, received in the trenches during Xmas week. The usual monthy donation for gift parcels for soldiers on active service was passed. i The "Paddy's Market" in aid of < the above funds is to take place on i ♦Saturday, April 20th. Gifts of suit- : able articles for the market will be* j gratefully received by the Secretary. < It was resolved to ask the local teachers to assist that day in having a stall. The . following letter was received by the Hon. Secretary: — "Madam, — The \ High Commissioner for New Zealand, representing the < New Zealand Prisoners of War Com- < mittee, has advised that extra com- •, forts in the way of tinned meat and preserved milk would be very accept- | able for New Zealand prisoners of war interned in Germany and Turkey. The information is accordingly made ] public so that Patriotic Societies and ] the public generally may, if they so j desire, make a contribution of each for j the purpose. Any such parcels should t be marked 'For N.Z. Prisoners of War Committee,' and addressed to Captain Bilton, 'X' Shed, Wellington, " The goods will be. forwarded as early • as possible. — J. Hislop, Under Secretary." Any person desirous of sending either tinned meat or preserved milk can send the gifts to the local secreta»y of the Ladies' Patriotic Guild, 1 who will forward them to Wellington 1 through the Guild free of charge, by 1 1 rail or shipping. i The following are thanked for work ! sent in: Mesdames Hichton, Williams, ]i Tishman, Auld, and Misses* Hindmarsh !' and Morris; and the following gifts of ji jam and pickles: Mesdames Torrance |"i (Waiuta), 7 bottles mixed pickles; : Mrs Kater, 5 tins jam; Mrs. Mcßeath, 381 b. jam.
