' German official: Repeated English attacks between- Langemarck and Hoilebeke were driven back, aftcc stubborn hand-to-hand fighting. Many tanks wore destroyed. We maintained our position on a fifteen-kilometre front except at two places eastward of St. Julien, and on the Ypres-Menin Road. We repulsed attacks at Lens. Fighting continues. French attacks at Vurdun gained a foothold in a trench.
