The niarriage was celebrated on February 8, 1917, at Edinburgh, of Sergeant-Major L. C. Wood, M.M., 'Australian Imperial Force, eighth son of Mr. E. G. Wood, Sumner, Christchurch j to Marjorie McGregor M.D., Dundee War Hospital. Bergeant-Maj-or Wood is a brother to Mr. Frank Wood (J. J. Lawson and Co.), Westport. ■•-■ ' ,
Captain Colelough, Officer Commanding the West Coast group has received the following in reply from Mrs M. Brown, wife of the late BrigadierGeneral Charles Brown, killed in action in the Messiues battle : "Please accept' and convey to all ranks of Brigadier-General Brown 's old Group ovi very ' high apreciation for kind messages. General Godley's official report said : 'Brigadier-General Brown was killed instantaneously by a burst of shrapnel'iu the valley of Messines, which he hsid so gallantly captured at the head of his Brigade. 1 ' *
