'*■•:■ "* ' On Friday Wm. Fox will present Theda Bara in a new and distinct interpretation of "East Lynne," The synopsis is as follows: Johii Moun^, Severn, spendthrift and gambler, realises that a sale of his estate, East Lynne, is imperative to satisfy his creditors.- Archibald Carlisle, a young" barrister, visits the estate. Severn's daughter, Isabel, meets Carlisle. He falls in love; with her. In the neighbourhood live Judge and Mrs. Hare, with their two . children, Barbara and Kichard. Babara has been in love with Carlisle and notices the difference in his manner after his visit to Mount Severn. -. A few weeks later, Dick Hare, resenting his father strictness regarding Afy Hellijohn, goes-td see the girl. ,Aly -.falls in love with Lovison. When Dick calls upon her she tells him' her' father is angry. Diek v in Ms -haste to leave, forgteis liih gun. Afy's father enters, to find Lcvison there. Enraged, he picks up. the gun, .and in the argument that follows Lovison shoots Hellijohn. He is about to escape when he is overtaken, by Otway Bethel, a preacher, wiio had been a *witiiess to the trigedy. Levisdn bribed Bethel to re:main silent. Dick Hare, hearing the shot, ran back to the cottage, and " Bethel, coming, upon the scene, immediately accuseshini of the crime. Dick becomes an outcast. Barbara is driven to desperation. Lcvison's father, dies. Carlisle is administrator of tie estate and, asks Levison to accept his hospitality during its settlement. Leyison forces Isabel to. misinterpret tfi& visit. As a result, Isabel leaves liei husband Barbara tells Carlisle thit Isabel has gone away with Levison. Carlisle divorces Isabel. Isabel is ma railroad wreefc. She sends Carlisle S a dying plea for forgiveness. Carlisle,thinking, that she has succumbed, marries Barbara. Isabel recovers. Dlsjguising herself- she goes to East Lynda; aiig becomes the , governess of heroin Iclnklren, Bethel, hearing of LevisOnTs | succession to Ms uncle Wate, retunk : to blackmail Mm. His conversatiof with Levison is overheard and theinnocence of Dick Hale is proved.
