In Committee on the Finance Bill, Rt. Hon.~ T. Lough moved a reduction in tea duty from Is. to Bd. Mr. Bonar Law said that he regretted the nepessity for increasing the burdens, but the revenue must be found. The Government y^as endeavouring to get the ' revenue from those best able to contribute, as was shown by the excess of dirts® 1 ! over indirect taxation. For ■ f l9ltf-i4 ! the indirect taxation amounted to £69,000,000, and in the present Budget "to £102,000,000. In 1913-14 direct taxation totalled £93,000,000. It was now £466,000,000.
