STATEMENT BY CHANCELLOR. EARLY END OF WAR DESIRED ("Reuters" Telegram.) (Rec. May 16, 6.40 p.m.) AMSTERDAM, May 15. Herr von Bethmann Hollweg, speaking in' the Reichstag, affirmed that • Germany had no difference with' the v Allies regarding the peace question. She perfectly understood the passionate interest taken in the German aims, but the only guiding line for the Clian- ' cellor was an early and satisfactory cVnchisiOii of the war. He could say nothing beyond that. He denounced the Socialist talk of revolution. The nation was firmly arrayed around the Kaiser, who trusted them. The Chancellor referred to the «n---paralleled battles of the past month. JEveri to-day the British and French showed no readiness for peace. The most recent utterance from London declared that the war aims announced as far back as two years ago were unaltered.
