CHRISTCHURCH. May 14.

In the Supreme Court to-day Mary Ellen Higgins was convicted and ordered to come up for sjentence when called upon on a charge of stealing £60 1 6s. A gunner in the Expeditionary Force had allotted a portion of his pay to her to bank it for hftn. On being invalided home he found that she had married and had spent the money. Sir Janies Denniston described it. as a most shabby act and said that ho would have imposed sentence but for accused^s condition. /
