..♦ LATEST LOSSES. DUTCH SUFFEE HEAVILY.. (Reuter's Telegrams.) (Rec. February 25, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, February 24. Sinkings include the British steamers Trojan Prince (3196 tons), Grenadier (1004 tons), Watneld (3012 tons), Belgicr (4588 tons), and the barque Invercaull (1416 tons). Lloyd 's report that the following Dutch steamers were torpedoed on Thursday night. The crews were landed: — Zandjik (4159 tons), Noordcrdjik (716(5 tons), Eemlaml (3770 ton's), Gaastcrland (3917 tons) Jacatra (5373 tons) B Menado' (sß74* tons), Bandoeng (5851 tons). The "Central News" states that four of these were homeward bound .with full cargoes and were sunk at the western approaches to the. English Channel. Arrangements for the voyi ages of this group were in the hands of the Dutch authorities and instructions regarding routes were not asked from the British Admiralty. FRENCH MAILBOAT SUNK. ' MAiNY LABOURERS ABOARD. DESTROYERS RESCUE MAJORITY.' (Rec. February 25, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON. February 24. An official message states that the Messageries mailboat Athos from China which was transporting Senegalise tirailleurs and colonial labourers to Franco, was torpedoed in the Modi? terranean. Two escorting destroyers, aided by the gun-boat which arrived, saved 1450 of the men. 1 — —^— I LOST SUBMARINES. A GERMAN STATEMENT. (Lee. February 25, 5.5 p.m.) ROME, February 24. Meyer the German Consul at Carthagena, has been arrested in connection with the discovery of the submarine base. Anothei' German named Kaller was arrested at Madrid; also a third f a seJf-styled American, Harry Wood. The authorities are determined to satisfy public opinion, which demands the most vigorous suppression ol* German intrigues. One of the seized cases contained correspondence and instructions to Germans occupying official positions in Spain. The submarine which placed the buoys also secretly landed several men who wore instructed to use explosives'.
