SIR J. FINDLAY WILL STAND. (Per Press Association^) WELLINGTON. February 21. Sir John Findlay has decided to seek election in Hawke's Bay, and left Wellington for Hastings tp-day. He states that he has received a request numerously signed by people In the district, and was unanimously selected by the Liberal League Con- , vention. He was also requested to stand by a large number of the Reform Party, and, finally, his candidature had the joint approval of Mr. Massey and Sir Joseph Ward: "I understand," he added, "that neither officially nor unofficially will there be any opposition to my candidature on tbe part of me Reiorm Party. I propose to view the election entirely on national lines and in support of the present National Government." THE LIBERAL (NOMINEE. STATEMENT BY REFORM LEAGUE SEVERAL CANDIDATES IN THE FIELD. WELLINGTON, February 21. Sir John Findlay has telegraphed his acceptance of nomination for the Hawke's Bay seat as Government nominee, y. Mr. Jull has definitely withdrawn. Mr. S. M. Campbell held a meeting ■ last night and announced that he t will oppose Sir John Findlay. The Hawke's Bay branch of the Reform League has handed the following statement to the press: An agreement was come to between the leaders of the Liberal aud Reform parties that during the term of the National 'Ministry, any seat held by cither of the respective partiesi should go when vacant to that party, ..without opposition from the other. The Hawke's Bay seat having become vacant through the death of the Hon. Dr. R. McNab, the Liberal Party has the right of nominating. Sir Johu , Findlay, having been nominated as the official Liberal cadidatc, . the Reform League will in no way oppose . his election and in the circumstances urges all supporters of the Reform Party to vote for him. Mr. Simson is still in the field and it is reported here that Mr. Atmore, of Nelson iritends standing in the Labour interests. Mr. A. L. D. Fraser, another prospective -candidate, invites his supporters to meet him on Friday night
