Forsyth, who retired from the partnership firm of Forsyth and McKay some time, ago, and subsequently proceeding, to Christchiirch, is at present paying a visit to Greymouth. ' Another of the Coasters who, * left with the Main Body of the Expedition, jary Force, served through the Gallipoli campaign and then -laid down nig life in France, is Private &. W. MeGurk,. who is reported a-s having £ied^ of wounds. Mr Job Lines, a very old and much respected resident of "Westport, and formerly of Buller Valley, 'died at West port on Friday. Deceased was, many years ago, waggoning on the Westport road, and later farming at White Cliffs. He then bought a butchery business in Westport,. where he resided, until his demise. The late Mr Lines: was in advanced years, being over 70> years of age. He leaves a widow arid grown-up family, who have -the sympathy of a very wide circle, in their affliction. The inangahua County Council this month appoints the new chairman for the coming year (writes our coiirespondent). Mr H. Bett s retires;, having occupied the most strenuous and. difficult financial years of the countyit is understood that the new Chairman: will be Cr G. Mr Frank Wood, of Westport, formerly of Greymouth, has received vc'ord that his brother, Corporal Louig . C. Wood, has been awarded the 'Military Medal for services in France.." Corporal Wood left with. D Company, 3rd. Battalion, Australian Forces, and "was amongst the first fifteen hundred wW,' during the first day s of the Gallipoli campaign, landed at Anzae Cove. On the Wednesday after the landing, he was wounded and invalided to England, subsequently returning to Gallipoli, where he was buried by an explosion. He, however, sustained no» seriou s injury, but , was afterwards again invalided to England, suffering; from enteric. He was twice promoted! on the field. From a cablegram received on Saturday, he is again invalided, to England, suffering froni pneumonia. Mr Frank Wood has two other brothers with the forces iiiFrance, both of whom went through the Gallipoli campaign. •
