BRITISH TRANSPORT ATTACKED.
BY TEN ENEMY DESTROYERS. THE RAID A FAILURE. (Received October 28, 2.20 p.m.) LONDON, October 27. The Admiralty reports that during Thursday night ten enemy destroyers attempted a raid on a/ number of transports crossing the Channel. The I raid failed. I One empty transport was sunk, but the crew was saved. I Two enemy destroyers were sunk, and the rest driven off. ■ m One British destroyer is missing and is feared to be lost. Nine of the 1 crew were saved; Another destroyer was disabled by a torpedo. She was being towed, Tmt 'the tow rope parted, owing to bad weather, and the destroyer grounded.
