SUBMARINE ACTIVITY.
STEAMERS SUNK. LONDON, April 9. The steamer Brauuton was blown up, but the crew were saved. ' The steamer Chantala was sunk and nine firemen killed. ; SUNK WITHOUT WARNING. . LONDON, April 9. The Simla and Chantala were sunk without warning 1 . The explosions killed eleven of the Simla's Lascar firemen and eight of the Chantala' s Lascar firemen. ' The remainder of the crews escaped. There were no passengers [on the Simla.
