IN A SUBMARINE.
SEA OF MARMORA CRUISE. LONDON, December 25. A submarine ofificer, describing a 24-days' cruise in the Sea of Marniora, says: — "The vessel was under fire on the average thrice daily. She penetrated all sorts of places and ahelled the railway, blocking the line. A troop train came up. It was the funniest thing to see the train hiding feehind some trees. We smashed it all to blazes and the troops scuttled. They fired tons of ammunition, but we were out of range. Altogether we sank a gunboat, five steamers, and seventeen large sailers, and we destroyed three trains and one embankment. We dived into Constantinople, torpedoed the arsenal and wharf, a n d Hew up lighters loaded with munitions. The explosion was terrific. We had a duel with a gunboat, wWcfi was driven off. After that we were left alone. Everything ' ran whez; we drew near. The only drawback was that all suffered from dysentery."
