Eleven girls and one man were burned to death in a fire, which destroyed the factory of the Union Box and Paper Company. The fire started in an adjourning feed store and spread to the factory. All escape was cut off and a number of girls jumped from the building and were caught by passersby but many were crushed to death. More deaths are expected, and several additional girls are missing.
