THE NATIONAL REGISTER «^ _ FORMS NOW BEING ISSUED. Personal schedules in connection with the National War Register for compilation by the male residents of the Dominion, between the ages of 17 and 60 years arc now being distributed by the Postal Department. The schedules will be hi the hands of every postmaster before 26th inst, on which day the taking of the Register commences. The exhibition of a Proclamation will be simultaneous at every Post Office and at* various other points on the morning of the 26th, and the distribution of the schedules will then commence in the towns. Schedules will be delivered to every residence by the letter carriers, and called for on completion. At smaller places where letter carriers are not employed schedules will be handed to eligible persons by postmasters on demand. Provision has been made by the Department for supplying schedules to persons holding private mail bags, and to those resident on rural postal deliveries. Special steps are being taken in connection with the registration of crews of coastal and intercolonial vessels. Schedules are not required to be filled in by full blooded Maoris or half-caste Maoris living as Maoris, but half-caste Maoris living as Europeans are required to register. The organisation of the Post Office is being used as far as possible to reach every eligible person in the Dominion, but the responsibility for obtaining a schedule rests upon the individual. Failure to return the completed schedule to Government Statistician, Wellington, or to an officer of the Postal Depal tment by the orh proximo will render the eligible persons liable to maximum penalty of £ioo or six months' imprisonment. Under the National Registration Act passed during the Session just ended, every male resident in the Dominion is required to furnish to the 'Govern, incut Statisticiau at Wellington,' a personal schedule setting out full particulars as to his age, nationality, occupation, dependents, etc.,- and also stating whether he is willing to become a member of an Expeditionary Force in ' 'onuection with the present war, or not.
